APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2019 CREATIVE CAMPAIGN ARE NOW CLOSED
Each year we do a call out for submissions for the front cover of our brochure, For 2019 we saw the most applicants we were thrilled to have received more applications that ever before, The Warren 2019 brochure cover was hand drawn by Liam Smith. Keep an eye out for the call out for The Warren 2020 Creative Campaign Submissions which will be announced later in the summer.
We, Otherplace, are Brighton's biggest production company. Often described as a 'festival-within-a-festival', The Warren is our bustling multi-venue site that pops up every May-June for the duration of Brighton Fringe.
Walk among the festoon-lit trees and you'll find a month-long party in full swing. In 2019, the site will feature four performance spaces, two festival bars, food traders and a children's area. Over 32 days, we stage over 800 performances, varying from cabaret and circus, to comedy, dance, film, music, theatre, workshops - and everything in between!
We are looking for an initial concept for The Warren 2019 brochure cover. The initial design will then be carried forward with us to create the final artwork. The brochure will be printed in A5.
We are open to any creative interpretations of what The Warren represents. The design does not necessarily need to be a pictorial representation of what we do, but should be bold, colourful and convey the spirit of The Warren site.
The design should include the Warren 'header', represented by our iconic entrance archway (see Dropbox link for images). It will also need to include the dates: 2 May - 2 June 2019.
In addition to the brochure cover, the fee includes the design of two adverts for inside the brochure using elements of the cover design. Specifications and briefs for these will be discussed after the cover design is finalised.
Elements of the design will be lifted as individual feature/accent graphics for marketing purposes, merchandise, uniforms, and stationery. Some examples of where the artwork is featured are:
Large on-site correx posters
Till receipt headers
Discount cards and drinks tokens
Posters and flyers
Adverts in local publications
Brochure bin stickers
This Dropbox folder contains some images of The Warren festival site for inspiration.
The artist will receive a payment of £800 for their design, as well as a 1/4 page advert in the brochure (worth £500) and a credit on our Partners page.
The artwork will be predominantly used for our 2019 festival campaign and any aspects related to our 2019 operations.
We will work on an Exclusive Usage License and retain the right to use the artwork for future campaigns. The artist retains full copyright of the artwork.
The deadline for submissions is midnight on Sunday, 30 September 2018.
We are aiming for completion for the final artwork by Sunday 25 November 2018.
There may also be some smaller ad-hoc tasks in the lead up to the festival.
